A drainage canal was transformed into a beautiful public park in Thailand.

A 100-metre stretch of the Chong Nonsi Canal Park in Bangkok's central business district was temporarily opened to tourists after undergoing renovations.

Footage shows visitors taking photos while exploring on the paved walkways beside the canal. Decorative shrubs, trees, and 3D-printed wire reindeers also lined the park.

Bangkok Governor Aswin Kwanmuang said workout facilities and areas for walking, running, and cycling were added to give tourists more activities to do.

He said: 'The design of the Chong Nonsi canal development has given importance to increasing green areas and to be a resting place for city dwellers. It is an area for doing exercises, using the canal to connect the people.'

The canal park, which is envisioned to increase the green space in the Thai capital, is designed to be a connection point between train stations in the city. It is estimated to cover an area of about 70 rai (around 112,000 square metres) and has a total project budget of 980 million THB.

Khlong Chong Nonsi Public park is the longest canal park in Thailand, stretching from Surawong road until the Chao Phraya River, with a total distance of 9 kilometres.
