Hungry wild elephant rampages through home and attacks car
This is the terrifying moment a hungry wild elephant rampaged through a home and attacked a car in Thailand.
The male jumbo named Duan wandered in front of a national park staff's house in Nakhon Ratchasima province, Thailand on January 23.
He then started searching through the property to find food but Duan appeared to have been startled and stopped when the officer's pickup truck passed by.
Footage shows the irritated elephant walking out of the house and eyeing the truck before motioning it away with his trunk.
Onlooker Namfon Thipprapa said: ‘It looked like he stopped being naughty because the officers showed up but he was slightly irritated. We were waiting for what he would do next.’
As Duan failed to find something to eat in the area, he eventually left and strolled away towards the forest. No one was reported hurt in the incident.
Thailand has an estimated 2,000 Asian elephants living in the wild but there is often conflict when they come into contact with humans on roads and in villages. A similar number of elephants are kept captive where they work in zoos and are hired out for religious festivals and weddings.
