This is the shocking moment a pick-up truck driver opened his door straight into an oncoming motorcycle rider.

CCTV video footage shows the rider sliding across the road after slamming into the truck's door in Songkhla province, southern Thailand on January 20.

The motorcycle then crashed into another two-wheeler parked next to the road. Concerned onlookers sheltered him with an umbrella to protect him from the heat while awaiting paramedics.

The injured man, named Koson Nonta, 18, had a 6cm-long cut on his head. Rescue volunteers performed first aid and took him to the nearest hospital for treatment. He is now recovering from the scrape.

The pickup driver, Ittipon Suwannarat, said: ‘I was going to make a delivery to a shop next to the road. I remember looking out but did not see any vehicle approaching.’

Police officers arrived at the scene after the accident and found the motorcycle and a pickup truck with a broken door.

Ittipon will be prosecuted as he was reportedly caught reversing on a one-way road. Police are now investigating the damage and injury to the motorcycle rider before they decide on the severity of the charges or amount of compensation the suspect will have to pay.
