An excited mother wiped away tears of joy as her daughter surprised her by returning home for the Chinese New Year.

Video filmed in the city of Heze in Shandong Province on January 26 shows a mother doing some housework in the kitchen turning around to see her daughter and grandson who returned home without telling her.

The excited mother then came out of the kitchen and called other family members "come to see who is here."

According to the daughter Ms Tian, due to the pandemic, she told her mother that she will not return home for Chinese New Year.

However, her mother cried every time when she called her and her siblings wanted her to go back as well. So she made a last-minute decision to return home without telling her mother.

当事人田女士介绍，因为疫情原因，一直跟妈妈说不回家，但妈妈每次打电话都哭，哥哥嫂嫂姐姐也都想让我们回去，后面临时决定就回去了，想着给他们个惊喜，确实很惊喜，妈妈到下午了还在说感觉不真实，还觉得我们回来这事不是真的。（视频由山东台提供）
