Rubbish-filled flood swamps family's home in the Philippines after heavy rain
A family's home was swamped with rubbish-filled water after heavy rains triggered flash floods in the Philippines.
Footage shows dirty water seeping into the house in T. Padilla town, Cebu City on January 26. Resident Niel Andrew Carcueva and his family retreated to the second floor of their home as the water slowly filled the lower level. Plastic bottles, empty food containers, and bits of garbage can be seen floating in the flood.
Niel said: 'The flood happened past midnight. It was even worse than when Typhoon Rai struck because the river was clogged this time, and the overflowing water headed straight to nearby communities. We were so surprised by the sudden rise in water level.'
State weather bureau PAGASA raised a heavy rainfall warning over Cebu City on January 25 due to a low pressure area detected north of Misamis Oriental province. Locals also reported experiencing blackouts in the region.
