This is the shocking moment an airport worker was seen hurling boxes down the boarding stairs of a plane in Indonesia

Footage shows the ground staff rolling the large coardboard boxes from the top of the Airbus A330 to another worker below, who then loads them into a trolley.

They tumble down the stairs from a height of around 50ft - potentially damaging any of the items inside.

The aircraft belongs to domestic low-cost carrier Lion Air. Video of the incident emerged on January 29 but is not yet known when and at which airport the incident took place.

Airline officials said they have looked into the incident and spoken to staff over the incident.

Lion Air Corporate Communication officer Danang Mandala said on January 30: 'Lion Air is still investigating the incident at this time.'

He added that he was unsure whether or not the goods belonged to the airline's passengers.

He said: 'The arrangement and placement of passenger baggage is under the plane, not inside the cabin.'
