Early lambs feeding, prancing and playing in the Welsh sunshine

Buy video

A flock of sheep with their newborn lambs enjoying some winter sun on the hills above the Welsh coast. While most flocks won't have lambs until the spring, some give birth as early as December.

A chorus of 'baas' can be heard as the lambs feed from their mothers and frolic with each other. Some stop to face the camera while others continue undisturbed.

From 1:20, a tiny lamb does a cute stretch as it awakens and begins to approach the camera. After some time, its mother starts to bleat from off-camera and the young lamb runs over to her. The mother places herself between her lamb and the camera, shielding her young and showing defensive behaviour.

From 2:43, footage of the entire flock undisturbed follows, with the Welsh coastline and Irish sea in the background.
