Whether it is in the human world or in the animal kingdom, there will always be males trying to impress females in a multitude of different ways. Some approaches might work better than others but sometimes the tactics and approach of some males can literally have females running away as was the case with this francolin bird. I initially started filming the male francolin bird as I thought it was getting ready to perform his late afternoon territorial call. The call never came and suddenly the male bird puffed out his feathers. Very intently, the francolin started moving down the termite mound it was standing on. I just followed his awkward movement down the mound with my camera before he stopped right in front of a female francolin. The female bird slowly took a few steps back before she made a lightning-fast side step and shot away from the male bird. The male bird clearly wanted one more chance to impress, following after the female with yet another awkward looking running style. This was hilarious to watch and the male quickly realised that this female was not going to hang around as she quickly disappeared off the mound into the thickets.
