A model maker makes impressive miniature creations from a functioning lightsabre to a bar complete with a fully operational lighting system.

Filipe Miranda, a 25-year-old model maker, creates the incredible miniature scenes and settings full-time from his studio in South London.

His original models range from residential settings to mythical sites, including an abandoned medieval church, King Arthur’s Sword in the Stone and an underground speakeasy complete with an alight fireplace and under-bar lighting.

He shares the entire process online, from the original blueprints to each miniscule paint stroke.

The final products are so intricate it’s hard to remember they’re fake.

Filipe is also an expert in the tiny details. His finishing touches include miniature branded alcohol bottles and soda cans, which are made from recycled full-size cans.

His love for all things miniature came from his years as an artist in the theatre industry.

After creating models of stage scenes, he was inspired to create his own settings.

He said: “I studied Theatre Design at the University of the Arts, London, where I learned everything there was to know about art in the theatre industry.

“I fell in love with the process of miniature model making. I had to create a specific set for each scene of a project and just really enjoyed it.”

Filipe described what inspired him to take to social media to share every part of the process.

He said: “It was actually one of my friends, Harry, who convinced me to start uploading my art to TikTok.

“Eventually I gave in and began uploading TikToks of things I had 3D-printed and tutorials on miniature decor items like lamps, jerry cans etc.”

Filipe didn’t expect the incredible reaction online and his projects now range from personal endeavours to commissions.

He said: “I was just shocked at the likes, comments and views!

“I didn’t think that many people would enjoy the videos as much as they did.

“My commissions are now open to people all over the UK with incredible ideas!

Filipe tackles a variety of themes, but has a particular love for everything eerie.

His creepy creations make us imagine life on an abandoned, post-apocalyptic Earth.

He also recreates famous TV sets and film memorabilia, sparking nostalgia and joy. Filipe hopes his social media stardom has a positive impact.
