A renowned snake catcher from southern India is fighting for his life after he was bitten by a large cobra on January 31.

Vava Suresh was called to a residential area in the Kottayam district of Kerala by local resident Niju Vaniyapurayil who spotted the 8-foot-long king cobra a week earlier.

Suresh found the aggressive reptile in the garden of a home and was attempting to place it in a plastic bag when it stuck, biting him on the knee.

Despite the potentially fatal injury, Suresh captured the snake before tying a cloth around his limb to prevent the venom from spreading.

Locals took him to the hospital where his condition quickly became critical.

However, doctors later said that he was showing signs of recovery and was breathing on his own.

Suresh has survived more than 300 venomous snake bites in his long career wrangling the dangerous reptiles.

The incident happened on 31st January in ward number 1 area of kurichy in Kottayam district of Kerala .
According to Niju Vaniyapurayil ( Indian national youth Congress kurichy mandal president) who is also a eyewitness of the entire incident , he spotted a big snake in the area a week back , he informed vava Suresh about it and asked him to rescue , Vava came on Monday to rescue it and found it into the backyard of a house , Niju adds the sanke was about 8 feet long and was aggressive , Vava Suresh captured the snake and was trying to put it into a bag , but the snake was aggressive , suddenly the snake attacked vava on his knee . But the brave Vava Suresh didn't stopped there even after snake bite he managed to rescue the snake , he was moaning in pain .
We tied a cloth around his knee so that the poison don't spread than immediately took Vava Suresh to a hospital and admitted him there . His condition was critical , but according to doctors he is now showing a sign of recovery but still on ventilator support .The hospital authorities said that he has started to breathe on his own and is responding .This is not the first time Suresh is bitten by a snake. He has survived more than 300 venomous snake bites.
