Harmful gases rising from La Palma volcano are still affecting local population

Footage captured on February 2 shows gases continuing to emerge from the Cumbre Vieja volcano on the Spanish island of La Palma.

Harmful gases such as sulphur dioxide and methane have been detected in the area and local authorities have been measuring air quality to protect the population.

The months-long eruption of the volcano last year caused millions of euros of damage as the lava flowed towards the sea destroying houses, businesses and banana plantations.
