At least 15 passengers sustained injuries after a mini bus carrying 40 passengers turned turtle at Doria crossing in Kolkata on 30th Jan at around 2 pm. The vehicle was ferrying around 40 people to an engagement ceremony in Howrah when it met with the accident and toppled in one of the city’s busiest roads in Kolkata.

A preliminary inquiry by the police revealed that the front left tyre had burst and the bus fell on its left side. The investigation into the incident revealed the vehicle had been plying without valid documents for more than three years.

The driver of the minibus, Sarfaraz Khan, 27, has been arrested. He has purportedly told the police that the steering wheel went out of control and the brake stopped working. The injured have been admitted to SSKM hospital in Kolkata.
