Police and locals form human chain to rescue girls from frozen river in China
Police and residents formed a human chain to rescue two girls trapped in a frozen river in northern China.
Video filmed in the city of Harbin in Heilongjiang Province on February 2 shows the icy layer breaking up, causing a police officer and a resident to fall into the water when they were trying to rescue the two trapped girls.
More than a dozen of nearby residents then gathered to try to use rope and wooden sticks to rescue the two girls.
Finally, nearby residents stood in lines to use ropes to pull the two girls out of the frozen river.
According to reports, the two girls are sisters and they were playing on the frozen river when the surface suddenly broke up.
Fortunately, the two girls were not injured seriously.
The video was provided by local media with permission.
