Police are investigating a knife fight in front of horrified passengers on a bus in south London.

The yobs started jostling on the top floor of the double-decker as it moved through Streatham on Thursday afternoon (February 3).

Shocked locals watched as the two lads, bother wearing black coats and with their faces covered, produced deadly weapons.

One was holding a machete with an eight-inch long blade while the other had a long thin metal bar. In the stairwell, a third man could be seen slapping what appeared to be a long sword against the handrail.

Terrified passengers watched as the scrap carried on ‘for about five minutes’ before the gang left the vehicle, to the relief of the driver.

Police officers arrived but all those allegedly involved had already fled the scene.

The filmer, who is originally from Nottingham but did not want to be named, said: ‘The kids with the knives came on the bus in Streatham. I couldn’t believe it was happening. They left after about five minutes of back-and-forth.’

Writing online, another passenger said they were sitting downstairs but could hear the fight going on.

They added: ‘I was just sitting still and hoping that it didn’t become deadly. The driver stopped the bus while it was happening and called the police.’

Police are investigating the knife fight.

A Met spokesman said: ‘Police were called at 16:41hrs on Thursday, 3 February to reports of a fight on board a bus in the area of Telford Avenue, SW2.

‘Officers attended but all of those involved had fled prior to their arrival. There were no reported injuries. There have been no arrests and enquiries continue.’
