Strong wind and waves battered wooden docks during stormy weather in Thailand.

Strong winds caused by the dry season blew across the sprawling expanse of the Phayao lake in Phayao province, northern Thailand on February 2.

Surprised tourists watched the normally serene lake undulate turbulently, as powerful waves rocked the wooden rafts of a nearby temple.

Port keeper Renu Jaisaad temporarily stopped the boats from ferrying tourists to the temple because of the rising water level, which reached about 60 centimetres high.

The gales reportedly subsided after an hour, and the weather returned to normal without incident. No structural damage or injuries were reported.

Renu said: 'I have been serving the port for more than 10 years, and I have never seen the lake this rough before.'
