Machap Baru (Located in Melaka), this "new" village is famous for its preservation of Chinese cultures and traditions. In fact, it has been dubbed as the "Chinese New Year Village" of Melaka. You really have to visit to witness their Mei Hua Walk 梅花街 (Plum Blossom Street).

Similar to our Melaka's Christmas Town which is the well-known Portuguese Settlement, Kampung Machap Baru come to life thanks to the countless numbers of dazzling crimson red lanterns which illuminate the bustling street. When you walk along Lorong 2 which is fondly called Plum Blossom Street (梅花街), you will be greeted by many beautiful Plum Blossom trees fitted with purplish-pink LED lights to give you that magical feeling.

Besides the synonymous red lanterns and Plum Blossom trees (not to be mistaken with Cherry Blossom), you can also admire the Chinese New Year couplets erected on both sides of the road. On these couplets read wordings full of wisdom for us to be grateful for our blessings. Interestingly, you will be seeing lots of tigers roaming on this street. Ha
