A 14-year-old boy was saved from serious injury or worse by his full schoolbag, when we was thrown to the ground by a fast-moving bus.

In the incident in Kargal in southern India on 31 January, the lad tried to grab onto a bus and swing himself on board.

The boy, Vaibhav, was hoping to catch the bus back to his village, Chippalmakki, but had arrived at the bus stand a little late.

But the vehicle was already accelerating away and did not slow down, flinging the young man hard to the ground, where his packed schoolbag miraculously cushioned his fall.

Seemingly unable to believe he had emerged from the incident unscathed, the kid then dusted himself off and continued to walk down the road.

This was the moment a 14-year-old boy fell down while trying to board a fast moving bus, but was miraculously saved by his school bag.

Vaibhav, who studies in 9th standard in Kargal in southern India, was walking towards the bus stand after school to catch a bus back to his village Chippalmakki.

He was a little late and the bus had already left the stand. Instead of waiting for the next bus, he tried to board the running bus whose door was open.

Vaibhav stumbled and fell on his back, but his school bag cushioned the fall and prevented any serious injury. A CCTV video from a nearby hotel shows the lucky boy getting up and walking away with just a few scratches. The incident took place on January 31.
