This is the terrifying moment a teacher found a venomous scorpion inside her student's shoe.

Nursery teacher Puangpetch Pragwaree, 41, noticed that one of the little girls in her class was refusing to wear her black school shoe in Prachuap Khiri Khan province on February 3.

Puangpetch checked on her pupil and found that something was stuck inside. As she inspected the leather footwear, she saw a venomous scorpion crammed inside.

Video shows the concerned teacher successfully shaking the arachnid out of the girl's shoe.

She said: 'I shook the shoe and the scorpion just crawled to a bush. Luckily, my student did not stick her foot in.'

Scorpions are arachnids that prey on insects and smaller animals such as rodents and lizards. They are primarily found in deserts, but have adapted to living in different habitats across all continents except Antarctica.

Scorpion stings typically cause discomfort and localised pain, but only about 25 species carry venom potent enough to kill a human being.
