Youth stuck on a cliff in South India saved by Army after epic two-day rescue mission

A very lucky young trekker in India has been rescued from his precarious perch on a cliff, after a two-day rescue mission.

He was finally brought to safety on Wednesday 9 February.

The 23-year-old man, Babu, got stuck in the cleft of the steep sides of Cherad Hill on Monday 7 February, while trekking with friends.

A rescue mission, latterly led by the Indian Army, has been battling to rescue him ever since.

The lad is reported to have fallen down the cliff and into the pocket of the rock wall, about 30m (98 feet) from the top.

Climbing experts, drones and helicopters were all used in the rescue effort before, finally, the young man was brought up to the top of the hill and safely evacuated.

This video was shot on both Tuesday 8 and Wednesday 9 February.
