A snake was found cooling off inside a woman's toilet as the start of the summer season heats up Thailand.

The reptile was believed to have been looking for shelter from the hot weather when it wandered inside the damp room in Saraburi province on February 3.

It was slithering among water buckets when the house owner's daughter entered to use the toilet and discovered it lying near the bowl.

Rescuers were then called to capture the animal from the property.

The house owner said: 'I heard my daughter shouting and found the black snake inside. I told her to run outside with me and we called for help.'

The rescue volunteers went inside the toilet and found the snake still inside. They then lured it out using a pole and secured it inside a sack upon being captured.

The snake was released into the wild later.

Thailand experiences temperatures of more than 30 degrees Celsius most of the year, apart from a brief cooler period in December and early January and during the annual tropical downpours in the rainy season from July to November.
