Gas facilities on Isle of Grain, Kent as UK energy bills soar
Rising UK energy bills are putting a significant strain on household finances.
Footage shows the National Grid's huge gas storage facility on the Isle of Grain in Kent known as 'Grain LNG' this afternoon (February 9 ), which is of strategic national importance to UK.
The facility is the largest LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) terminal in Europe and 8th largest in the world by tank capacity.
It can potentially supply 20% of the UK's gas demand.
Gas is imported by ship to the terminal and stored in the huge tanks, the biggest are made from concrete with each one larger than the Royal Albert Hall.
