Yellow Box pop-up café

Residents of a South London street were celebrating at a cafe which popped up on the site of a yellow box, installed on the road "in error" two months ago.

Overwhelmed by complaints from the residents of Oswin Street in London's Elephant and Castle, the Roads and Street Works Manager for London Borough of Southwark conceded that the yellow box, meant to enforce a 24 hour, 7 day a week parking ban, was an error.
In his words, "The yellow box junction has been installed by Balfour Beatty in error and as such is unenforceable. This box junction will be removed and replaced with a single yellow line."

The residents feel they have been forced to bear the brunt of the regeneration of the area, which includes the redevelopment of the Leisure Centre and the fully private One the Elephant, having their residential street commandeered by the developers and contractors.
