Father and son rescue drowning fawn

Buy video

Dramatic footage has emerged of a father and son saving a struggling baby deer from drowning in a lake.

The pair came across the fawn while out fishing in the middle of a lake in Geneva, Florida late last month. The filmer Clayton Meng later wrote online that he "went fishing with my father last night and spotted something in the middle of the lake. turned out to be a baby deer so we grabbed it up out of the lake and took it to shore."

The father and son took the creature back to shore and left it to rest in a field - describing him as looking "tired and freaked out".

Sadly the creature ended up passing away by the next morning.

A friend of the pair wrote online: "at least he was able to lay down and rest instead of drowning".
