A DIY inventor built his own fully-working electric car in Thailand.

Electrician Seksan Sudsan, 53, constructed the vehicle's frame from recycled materials and designed its battery-powered engine in his shop in Yasothon province.

Instead of fuel, the vehicle operates through a rechargeable battery that allows the four-wheeler to run up to 58km per hour and carry a 500kg weight.

Seksan said: 'I worked as an electrician for a car company for 20 years so I am confident with my abilities. I opened my own shop and thought about doing this project.

'I have been interested in electric cars so I self-studied how it worked by reading articles in books and the internet. I also have friends who offered their advice to me to make the car work.'

Seksan said he sourced the materials by importing them from China and started building the car on May 2021. He finished the working electric car by November that year.

The would-be Elon Musk said he spent the equivalent of several thousands dollars on his electric car.
