Protesters began to gather in Brussels, Belgium, on Monday 14 February, ahead of the expected arrival of a so-called 'Freedom Convoy' from Paris.

The protesters are variously opposed to Covid restrictions, vaccine mandates and, in many cases, vaccines themselves.

Several hundred vehicles participating in the convoy left the Paris region on Sunday in the direction of Brussels.

According to a police source, around 450 vehicles left the outskirts of Paris, where they had spent the night, on their way to Brussels where they plan to block parts of the city in protest.

The protesters are mimicking Canadian truckers, who held a similar protest against mandatory testing and vaccination.

Belgian authorities have banned any demonstration in Brussels “with motorised vehicles” and announced that they are taking measures to prevent the blockade of the city and its outskirts.
