This is the heartwarming moment a newborn kitten was rescued after being trapped in a drain.

Concerned locals contacted the rescue team after hearing the animal crying inside the pipework in Suphanburi province, Thailand on February 5.

Staff arrived at the scene and tried to pull the concrete cover open but it was too tight. A pickup truck had to be used to open the structure.

They used a chain to attach a large rod to the manhole cover. Only after a few seconds, the concrete was successfully lifted.

In the video, the man can be seen climbing down the hole with a flashlight. He kept food on the ground to lure the kitten before catching it with a hook.

The female kitten was immediately adopted by a passerby after the rescue mission. They named her 'Nam', meaning water.

Onlooker Charoensuk Suttichok, 52 said: ‘Lifting the concrete cover was not easy but it was worth saving a tiny kitten’s life. I’m glad the cat now has a better life.'
