Drowning newborn puppies rescued from flooded pit during thunderstorm in Thailand
This is the heroic moment newborn puppies were rescued after getting trapped in a flooded pit during a thunderstorm in Thailand.
Ratchanee Boonkrachai rushed to her home in Chachoengsao province when it started to rain on February 3 as a stray dog near her house had just given birth to nine puppies the day before.
Fearing the pups might be in danger, Ratchanee rode her motorcycle and ran through the rain to rescue them.
Video shows the panicked woman reaching her hand into the muddy hole and pulling the puppies out one by one. She managed to drag out two puppies, but had difficulty saving the others as the opening was only 18 centimeters wide.
Ratchanee then clawed through the soil to allow the rainwater to drain out and prevent the baby dogs from drowning. After 15 minutes of being drenched in the storm, Ratchanee successfully retrieved them with the help of her teenage son.
She took the motionless pups back to her house and performed CPR to successfully revive them by pumping the water out of its lungs.
Ratchanee, who has adopted all five of the puppies, said: "When I reached home and saw the puppies floating in the water I knew I had to be fast before it’s too late."
