A police officer was dragged along a road in southern China by a minibus after the motorist attempted to avoid being stopped.

Dashcam footage filmed in the city of Yibin in Sichuan Province on February 14 shows a minibus dragging a police officer on the side of the vehicle along a road.

According to reports, police found that the minibus did not have a license and it allegedly had illegal modification during a regular check so they detained the vehicle.

However, the minibus motorist named Luo suddenly started his vehicle to try to escape, dragging a police officer named Zhang Yifan who tried to stop him along a road for around 1 kilometre.

Zhang finally fell off the minibus as he lost his grip.

Zhang suffered serious injuries but he was not in life-threatening condition and he was being treated in hospital.

Luo surrendered himself to the police on February 15 and he was detained for further investigation.

The video was provided by local media with permission.
