A river destroyed a bamboo bridge after heavy rain led to flooding in Bantul, Indonesia.

Footage from February 17 shows the moment the bridge was swept away by the swollen river.

Supriyanto Bondan, a local official, said: "The damaged woven bamboo bridge has caused the link between the two sub-districts to be completely cut off."

Footage filmed in Bantul Regency, Special Region of Yogyakarta province on Thursday (February 17), shows the moment floodwater destroys the bamboo bridge connecting the two districts.

Bantul SAR officer Supriyanto Bondan said the moment occurred when he and his team monitored the river flow after heavy rains flushed the Bantul area.

"The damaged woven bamboo bridge has caused the link between the two sub-districts to be completely cut off," Bondan added.

In addition to destroying bridges, overflowing rivers also cause flooding in roads and settlements with water levels reaching 2,5-foot-deep.
