Heavy rain and strong winds has felled trees and damaged buildings on the Indonesian island of Java.

Footage filmed in Bantul Regency, Yogyakarta city on Saturday (February 19) shows the damage.

Extreme weather, heavy rain and strong winds caused trees to fall and damage buildings in Indonesia.

Footage filmed in Bantul Regency, Yogyakarta province, today (Saturday, February 19) shows fallen tree hitting a car parked in the worship place area, around it a fallen tree fell onto the road.

Supriyanto Bondan, SAR DIY Bantul officer, said the team patrolled motorcycles to report the impact of extreme winds.

"It happened at 4.00 pm. A tree fell on four cars, blocked road access, hit the electricity network, buildings and business," Bondan said.

There are no reports of casualties or injuries. Losses due to this weather are estimated at 40,000,000 rupiah, or 2.800 USD.

The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) stated that the potential for extreme weather in parts of Indonesia will last from 17 to 23 February 2022.
