Lucky escape for driver taking on flooded roads in Yorkshire, UK, during Storm Franklin

A roof-mounted camera gave a car's-eye view of driving through flooded roads in Castleford, West Yorkshire, UK, on Sunday 20 February.

It also caught the moment that the seemingly unstoppable 4x4 had to halt because fencing and barriers washed away by the floodwaters blocked the way.

Fortunately, the driver was able to move the barrier by making waves with his vehicle, allowing him to drive on.

Barnsdale Road between Allerton Bywater and Castleford had to be closed this afternoon due to heavy rain and flooding. But this brave driver ignored the road closures to drive his specialist off-road vehicle through the inundated roads.

Storm Franklin, currently battering the UK, is the third storm in a row to hit the country, after Storm Dudley and Storm Eunice. It has brought flooding to many parts of the UK.

Motorists risk their insurance becoming void if their vehicle becomes damaged or stranded while driving along flooded roads as invisible objects can become submerged or manhole lids lifted by the water.

Or in this case, a metal barrier with fencing attached, that blocks the road.
