Huge digger floats down flooded river, smashing into bridge, during UK storm
A huge digger and other plant machinery floated away on a flooded river in Yorkshire, UK, smashing into a bridge and sinking.
The incident happened on Sunday 20 February, during Storm Franklin -- the third storm in a row to batter the UK after Storm Dudley and Storm Eunice
Workers at the site in Armley, outside Leeds, had battled for hours to save the machinery, which was sitting on a floating platform at the time it went downstream.
The machinery is said to weigh approximately 14 tonnes and is likely to have caused significant damage to the bridge.
Local workmen and police told the filmer they feared that other floating debris could build up on the sunk machinery.
The platform the machinery was on top of continued its journey after dumping the digger, prompting fears for further damage downstream.
