This is the touching moment firefighters saved a kitten trapped in a narrow pipe in Indonesia.

The feline was discovered crying by residents from inside a downspout in Cakung district, Jakarta on February 20.

It was being lured out of the pipe but the space was too tight so the residents called the firefighters for help.

The fire volunteers then smashed a portion of the concrete that covered the pipe so the cat could come out through the bigger space.

Suhada from the Cakung Sektor Fire Department said: 'Residents reported to us that there was a trapped kitten so we rushed to the location.'

After almost half an hour, the firefighters were able to grab the kitten out. The firefighter added that the kitten could have fallen from the attic and was stuck.

He said: 'The cat could have fallen down into the pipe while playing in the attic. It was a rainwater pipe that fits into the gutter at the roof.

'We dismantled the wall using crowbars to help the cat out. We were relieved it was safe.'

The residents adopted the kitten after the incident which was unharmed during the rescue mission.
