Storm Franklin brings mega surge tide and localised flooding to Kent, UK
Storm Franklin created a huge tidal-surge in the Thames Estuary this afternoon (February 21), bringing localised flooding to low-lying parts of Kent, UK.
A tide of almost 7 metres was recorded by Port of London's Southend tidal gauge - an incredible 133 cm higher than the normally predicted tide.
Footage shows the seafront at Sheerness, Kent being swamped by the tide. Historic shipwreck SS Richard Montgomery's three masts were seen to almost disappear beneath the waves.
