University lecturers and other staff marched in central London on Tuesday 22 February, as part of a protest over pay and pensions.
Fair Pay Now and Stop the Pension Robbery protesters assembled at Tavistock Square to march to the Bank of England.
Many higher education staff in the UK are striking over pay and conditions as well as pensions.
They want pay increases, an end to so-called 'zero-hours' contracts, and action over what they say are unmanageable workloads.
On pensions, they are also demanding more money, but have recently focussed on an issue over the valuation of a pension scheme used by academic staff, which they say is flawed as it took place when markets crashed at the start of the pandemic (but later rebounded).
