A scooter rider fell into a sinkhole that opened up on a road in southern China.

CCTV footage filmed in the city of Shanwei in Guangdong Province on February 19 shows a scooter rider suddenly falling into a sinkhole as the road collapses.

The rider climbed out of the sinkhole by himself and luckily he was not injured.

A witness named Li said the section of the road used to be a ditch and it was paved into a road for convenience.

Since there has been continuous rainfall, the mud was washed away gradually.

The sinkhole was surrounded by traffic cones and it will be filled up after the rain stops.

The video was provided by local media with permission.
