Anano Mirtskhulava, 14, a dancer from Tbilisi, Georgia, always loved flaunting her long hair.

When she was seven, she had it cut into a bob but upset at how long it took to grow back, she declared she wouldn't cut it again.

At its longest, her hair was almost seven-foot-long and despite being in love with her glossy locks, she decided that it was now time for a change.

“I had very long hair, so I cut it short - but after that, my hair didn’t grow much anymore,” Anano told Jam Press.

“I decided not to cut my hair ever again, as I regretted losing my long hair so much.

“Luckily, I already have quite healthy hair and I didn’t need to do much to help it grow.

“I used to wash my hair two or three times a week, which took around one hour and I would also use a hair scrub to help activate the follicles.

“My mum would dry my hair and this took around half an hour, which I don’t think is unreasonable for the length that it was.”

Anano’s friends and family loved her Rapunzel-esque hair and would constantly ask her to never cut it.

She would even have people stop her in the street, who gave her compliments such as: "wow, I love your hair’" and "I wish my hair was just like yours".

Despite the positives, there were many negatives, which contributed to her decision to cut it.

She said: “I loved my hair very much and I used to style it into long braids, which you need for dancing the national dances of Georgia.

“However, wearing and caring for such long hair is so difficult and although I was very careful with it, I wanted a change to make my life easier.

“I had been thinking about getting a haircut for a long time and my friends encouraged me to go shorter after I told them how difficult it was getting for me.

“In October 2021, I bit the bullet and went the shortest I have ever gone.

“The hairdresser split my hair into two parts and cut my hair bit by bit until I was happy with the length.

“I couldn’t believe the final result - I was so happy.”

Although no one in her family knew about her drastic transformation plans, they were in love with her new look, despite being shocked.

After sharing her new look to TikTok, she was overwhelmed with positive reactions and has since racked up over 6.7 million likes and 21.3 million views.

“I DIDN’T EXPECT IT TO BE THAT SHORT,” one viewer commented.

“Those saying ‘rapunzel to dora’ obviously haven’t seen the end of Tangled…,” another person added.

Someone else said: “Hair product bill went from $500 a month to like $30.”

“Ooo girl, I bet that was SO freeing,” another viewer commented.

“Girl why you do that,” someone else said, to which Anano replied: “ahaha, why nottt.”

Anano decided to sell her hair for 1,300 GEL (£300) to the salon where she had her haircut so that they could repurpose it into wigs.

Although she misses her hair, she doesn’t regret her decision and thinks short is better.

However, she's been inundated with messages from people asking for advice on how to grow their hair as long as hers.

She added: “My advice would be to first start off with hair extensions, so that you can see how to take care of longer hair.

“Always use the right products and try to use natural ones, rather than heavy chemical-based ones.

“I also ate very healthily, as my diet affected how quickly my hair grew, as well as the overall strength.

“Most importantly, always remember how beautiful you are - long or short hair.”
