Interest in historic 'bomb ship' SS Richard Montgomery in the Thames Estuary has exploded - since news that the UK Government will be removing the shipwreck's three masts this summer.

The doomed WW2 American Liberty ship sank 1.5 miles north of Sheerness, Kent in August 1944, with 1400 tonnes of explosives still onboard.

Visitors are flocking to see the shipwreck, with two companies running tours, before the masts are removed.

Footage shows Jetstream Tours' boat 'Jacob Marley' circling the wrecked ship with visitors over the course of two trips afternoon (February 23). The X-Pilot vessel also runs tours, with both companies operating from nearby Queenborough harbour.
