Dozens of residents were seen panic-buying at a supermarket in Ivano-Frankivsk, western Ukraine, as Russia launched an attack on the country in the early hours of February 24.

Footage filmed by a student from India shows shoppers loading their baskets with essential items.

Explosions and missile strikes have been reported near major cities in Ukraine on Thursday (February 24) as Russian forces launch a major military assault.

In a televised statement earlier on Thursday morning, Russian leader Vladimir Putin said he was not planning to occupy Ukraine and called on its military to lay down their weapons.
