An Indian medical student studying in Ukraine wandered around the city of Ivano-Frankivsk today (February 24) to record the aftermath of Russia's assault.

Footage showed clouds of thick smoke billowing from the nearby airport which was reportedly hit by Russian missiles.

Meanwhile, her footage showed long queues forming outside ATMs as panicked residents hurried to get cash.

Explosions and missile strikes have been reported near major cities in Ukraine today (February 24) as Russian forces launch a major military assault.

In a televised statement earlier on Thursday morning, Russian leader Vladimir Putin said he was not planning to occupy Ukraine and called on its military to lay down their weapons.
