The seizure of the Ukrainian border post on the island of Zmeiny in the Black Sea became one of the most dramatic episodes of the first day of the invasion of Russian troops in Ukraine. As a result of a rocket and artillery strike by a Russian warship on the island, 13 Ukrainian border guards were killed, President Vladimir Zelensky said. According to him, they will all receive the title of Hero of Ukraine posthumously.
This video illustrates the appearance of fresh graffiti in Odessa, which quotes the response of the Ukrainian military to the threat from the Russian side: 'Russian warship - buzz off' (F. off in literal translation).
