Leopard stays put atop tree for 7 hours to avoid being attacked by tigers in central India

A leopard climbed up a tree and stayed there for nearly seven hours to avoid being attacked by two tigers fighting beneath in central India's Madhya Pradesh.

The incident took place in the Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve, located in the Umaria district, on February 24.

Visuals feature the big cat climbing the tree. The leopard springs off the ground and perches on the branch, following which it keeps moving up and stays put there. Later, upon noticing that its surroundings are clear, the big cat climbs down and darts into the forest cover.

Two tigers fought one another in the presence of a leopard, following which the spotted cat climbed up a tree to avoid being caught in the middle of the fight.

Seven hours later, when the leopard realized that it was in the clear, it descended from the tree and retreated to the forest cover.

Moreover, the incident unfolded in front of the forest officials out for a routine patrol in the region.
