Kenduri Maulid can be said to be one of the biggest celebrations in Aceh Province. Usually, the Maulid celebration lasts for three months starting on the 12th of Rabiul Awal (Hijri calendar) or coinciding with the Birthday of the Prophet Muhammad.

During that time, all villages (gampong) in Aceh held Kenduri Maulid. Maulid celebrations are performed as a form of joy and respect for the Prophet Muhammad.

How did the Maulid Kenduri take place?
Every year, Maulid in Aceh is celebrated by eating together, giving religious lectures, and reading poetry and remembrance. Village officials or institutions that conduct Maulid will invite many people including orphans and the poor to eat together and provide compensation.

You can find Kenduri Maulid in Banda Aceh City in the range of 12 Rabiul Awal to Jumadil Awal month on the Hijri calendar. However, most of the Maulid Kenduri are held on weekends at the beginning of the Maulid celebration. When the Maulid takes place, the atmosphere will be crowded and full of intimacy, everyone rejoices at the Maulid Kenduri.
