This is the heroic moment a motorcycle rider who was swept away by floods was rescued by brave passers-by during a rainstorm in southern Thailand.

Thanyarat Kaewthong, 21, was riding across a flooded road in Phatthalung province when gushing waters from the overflowing reservoir knocked her over on February 27. She was dragged away into the lake below.

Several locals plunged into the water rushed to save the disoriented woman before she could drown. They then called officers to retrieve the motorcycle which had fallen into the flood.

Using rope tied to a police cruiser, they climbed down the canal and successfully towed the motorcycle back up.

Thanyarat said: 'I usually drive through here after work to reach home. Before I knew it, the current had overturned my motorcycle.'

Flooding from heavy rain has hit several provinces in Thailand’s southern-most region including Narathiwat, Yala, Pattani, Songkhla, and Phattalung.
