Roads were repaired after flash floods caused a bridge to collapse in southern Thailand.

Footage shows local rescuers removing mudslide debris across a mountain road in Narathiwat province on February 28.

A vehicle carrying six passengers reportedly fell from the broken bridge, with local officers carrying out a search and rescue in the area.

Motorists and locals were also left stranded as the water level on a river continued to overflow, forcing the closure of nearby routes.

Sukhirin district mayor Surin Srisai said: 'The rescue mission had to be postponed during bad weather but it has now resumed as the water level already reduced. Road repairs were also underway.'

Flooding from heavy rain has hit several provinces in Thailand’s southern-most region including Narathiwat, Yala, Pattani, Songkhla, and Phattalung, close to the border with Malaysia.

In Malaysia, more than 12,000 residents have been displaced as continuous rain caused floods that swamped towns on the peninsula's east coast.
