Warm-hearted Londoners responded in their droves to a social media post from the White Eagle Club - a Polish community centre, requesting donations for Ukrainian refugees in Poland and civilian soldiers staying to fight in Ukraine.

The club was soon overwhelmed by the generosity of the public that people queued for an hour to deposit their donations as the message spread and shows no sign of slowing.

In footage filmed on March 2nd the club is a hive of activity as thousands of items, sorted, labelled and bagged by dedicated groups of volunteers fill the floor to the ceiling of the club's ballroom.
Human chains passed the sorted items to the mountain building up behind, and back again when the donations are loaded into vans ready for transportation to the refugee camps in Poland.

The club regularly provides updates on social media as to what is most needed, and having received enough clothing, are currently requesting batteries, torches, medical and first aid items including painkillers and strong bandages, toiletries, sanitary products and military supplies such as helmets, camouflage clothing, night-vision goggles and binoculars.
