A furious wife shot her husband in the crotch with a fishing harpoon because he went out drinking with friends instead of cooking dinner.

Chanita Kuedrum, 43, returned home from work in the fields as a sugarcane collector and was expecting rice on the table at the family home Buriram province, northeast Thailand, on Thursday night March 3.

However, she was angry when she found that lay-about partner Boonchuey Mooseeton, 45, had gone out with pals drinking whiskey - forgetting to make the supper.

Chanita allegedly waited up for Boonchuey with a harpoon spear gun before 'shooting him like a fish' in the groin - piercing the base of his manhood. The husband said his wife then 'twisted the spear' like he was a fish being dragged ashore.

The husband stayed at his mother's house - so drunk he didn't realise the severity of the injury - before waking up in pain and visiting the local doctor the next morning. Medics at the Lahan Sai Hospital put 17 stitches in his penis to hold together the wound.

Boonchuey said: 'I was drunk when I came home and my wife was upset at me for not cooking rice. She was working all day and I forgot.

'I have been married to my wife for 21 years now. She is a very talkative woman. We had a small fight and she just pulled the fishing harpoon that was leaning against the wall and shot my genitals.

‘It wasn’t that painful and it only felt numb but the next morning it was painful so I rushed to the hospital. She struck my penis with the tool and twisted it like it was an actual fish.

'I will not return home for now until she cools down. I’m scared she might repeat it again the second time. I still love my wife and I have no intentions of suing her.’

However, Chanita claimed that her husband has a bad temper and would always become rowdy whenever he get drunk.

She said: 'Talking nicely to him is never the solution. I’m tired of working in the sugarcane field so when he became violent, I just grabbed his penis and twisted it.

'He spoke very badly about me and my family. He even had the energy to argue with me when I had his penis in my hands. He asked me to let go of his penis and then he just rode the motorcycle to his mother's house.'

The incident emerged after residents in the village heard the couple arguing and a local reporter visited the next day. Neither party have made a complaint to the police.
