A forest fire that broke out in the northern Philippines has destroyed more than 100 hectares of woodland, authorities said.

The blaze reportedly began in the town of Bokod in Benguet province early morning on March 1.

The Bokod Bureau of Fire Protection said the fire, which was far from residential areas, lasted for two days due to hot weather and strong winds that fanned the flames.

It added that around 100 hectares of land had been razed as of Wednesday afternoon when the fire was fully extinguished. Officers are still investigating its cause.

No injuries and casualties were reported.

The incident comes after another forest fire occurred in the same town last February 21.
