A kind female driver rescued a kitten stuck inside a car engine.

Jirawan Maungphugna, 30, went to a mall and heard the strange sounds while she was driving on her way back home in Bangkok, Thailand on February 28.

When she stopped at a red light, Jirawan bought some flower garlands from a roaming street vendor who confirmed with her that it was a cat that seemed to be making the sounds.

The woman then quickly pulled over to the nearest parking lot and called the local rescue team for help in searching for the kitten.

She said: 'I was confused when I first heard the cat. I thought it was just my ears playing tricks on me, but then the vendor said she could also hear the same thing.'

When the rescue team arrived, they lured out the cat in the engine with food and it was out after 20 minutes. It was not hurt but appeared to be tired so they gave it some food and water.

The woman thanked the rescuers for their help and took the cat home for adoption.
