This is the moment kind firemen rescued a blind stray dog stuck in a manhole.

Fire marshalls were called for assistance after an Aspin pooch was heard crying under the newly-constructed drain in Misamis Oriental province, the Philippines on February 10.

Upon arrival, the team let a ladder down the 10ft-deep hole so they could reach the dog. It was found scared and hiding inside a smaller hole leading to the sewers but it was eventually lured out.

Volunteers successfully saved the blind dog after almost an hour. It was not injured but starving so the locals gave it some food and water.

Municipal Fire Marshal Sam Velarde said: 'When we heard about the dog, we immediately sent some team members to the area. We were relieved the dog was safe.'

The dog was adopted by one of the locals who called the firemen.
